Welcome to the sizing page. Sizing is the most important aspect of purchasing any of our garment products. In order for your garment(s) to fit properly, you need to start with good measurements.
For Sizing a Wedding Gown or Bridesmaid Dress
Measuring for sizes should be done, preferably, with someone else helping you. Please don’t use sizes from ready made clothes. Measuring is very important to get the right size dress because dresses are made by different manufacturers, using different size charts. If you were just in a wedding and wore a size 8, don’t assume you will wear a size 8 for another dress unless it is made by the same manufacturer. It’s always better to order up a size if you think it may be too snug, especially if the dress is made of chiffon because there is no fabric in the seams to let out. Don’t be surprised to find out you wear a 10 in formalwear when you normally wear a 6 in other clothes.
*For a few wedding gowns, some hems cannot be altered and must be custom made for your exact height which includes shoes and any extra crinoline. There is always an extra charge for this measurement. If you are unsure of your style, please call Red Magic before you order to make sure your gown is alterable. If we find it is not, we will then tell you how to order a “hollow to hem” gown and the price for this measurement.
Some manufacturers will charge extra for larger sizes. Forever Yours is one of few who does not charge extra for larger sizes. If your dress is charged a large size charge, it will be applied to the balance.
To measure:
1. Wrap a cloth tape measure around the largest part of your bust all the way around the back. This is your bust measurement.
2. Measure your waist around your smallest section around to the back. The tape should be comfortably snug. This is your waist measurement.
3. Measure your hips at the largest part going around your buttocks. This is your hip measurement.
Last, your height is needed with the height of the shoe you intend to wear. If you are 5’ 8” or taller, you may need extra length, depending on the manufacturer. There is a separate charge for that. Please call for charges or if you are unsure about any of your measurements.
If you are pregnant or will be pregnant or will have delivered soon before the wedding, please call for advice as sizing will take more information.
On the order page, you will be instructed to type in these measurements. From these measurements, Red Magic will determine what size will fit you best. Remember, your largest measurement (usually the waist) will determine the size of your dress. You will probably need alterations for bust and length and alterations are never included in the price of your dress.
For Sizing Junior Bridesmaids:
Junior sizes usually range from 4 to 16. For Bust, Waist and Hip sizes, follow instructions #1 - #3 above.
Also needed for juniors is a hollow to waist. The hollow is found on the neck below the Adams apple.
A waist to hem may be needed; preferably with the shoes on she is wearing with the dress.
For Sizing Flower Girls:
Flower girls range from 2 to 14. For Chest and Waist sizes, follow instructions #1 and #2 above.
Also needed is a waist to mid leg for tea length dresses only. If the dress is not available in tea length, omit this measurement.
Finally, measure waist to floor, preferably with shoes on, for floor length dresses only.
TUXEDOS AND SUITS
A good fit in a tuxedo or suit start with good measurements. If at all possible, find a tuxedo shop or bridal shop in your neighborhood. They should measure you for free (I do), then you don’t need to mess around with all of this. If that isn’t possible, get someone to help you. Your height and weight are the first measurements. Then, you will need a chest measurement. This measurement is exactly how it sounds. You will need a cloth tape measure and go around the chest and back. This measurement will be your chest measurement. Put a few fingers under the tape measure for a comfortable fit.
Next is the overarm measurement. As your guy stands there with his arms at his sides, put the tape measure around his chest again, but this time, over the arms. This should be loose enough to put your hand under the tape.
Next is the waist measurement. Fit the tape measure around your waist at the smallest point. For guys with a pot belly, do not put the tape measure under your belly. If you do that, your vest is only so long and it may not cover up the waist to the pants waistband.
Then, the outseam measurement . This measurement is taken from the top of the waistband to the floor (in stocking feet).
Shirt sizing is next. Place the tape measure around the neck (where you would actually button a shirt collar. Add 1” to your measurement for comfort. This is your neck size.
Next is your sleeve length. From the back, place the tape at the spine at the base of the neck. Go out to the shoulders, elbow and down to the wrist. 
The last measurement is your shoe size. Tux shoes are pretty true to size with dress shoes. Tennis shoes or ‘sneakers’ are wider so take that into consideration.

The outseam is measured from the waist to the ankle.
The shoulder is measured from shoulder to shoulder straight across the back.
The chest is measured one inch below the under arm.
The sleeve is measured from the shoulder to the wrist.
